Happy Beltane, Shenn do Boaldyn, Bealtunn, Volbriöö, Galan Mae, May Day, Kevadpüha, Walpurgis Night, Vappu, Vappen, Valborg and Labour Day or whatever You may call it.

"bel" = shining or brilliant and "tene" = fire

Valborg = Saint Valborg or Saint Walpurgi canonized on 1 May ca. 870

Walpurgis Night is a traditional religious holiday of pre-Christian origin, celebrated today by Christians as well as non-Christian communities, on April 30 or May 1 in large parts of Central and Northern Europe.

For the Celts, Beltane marked the beginning of the pastoral summer season when the herds of livestock were driven out to the summer pastures and mountain grazing lands.

Early Gaelic sources from around the 10th century state that the druids of the community would create a need-fire on top of a hill on this day and drive the village´s cattle through the fires to purify them and bring luck (Eadar dà theine Bhealltainn in Scottish Gaelic, "between two fires of Beltane).

Hyvää ja riemukasta Vappua kaikille.

Vapunaatto, viimeinen päivä huhtikuuta tai arkisesti vappu, suomenruotsalaisittain Vappen, on jokavuotinen pyhä, jota vietetään Virossa, Liettuassa, Suomessa, Ruotsissa, Tsekissä ja Saksassa joko 30 huhtikuuta tai 1 toukokuuta.

Perinne on lähtöisin pakanallisista riennoista. Esim. keltit juhlistivat kevään tuloa druidien sytyttämien tulien avulla ja ajoivat karjansa näiden tulien läpi jotta karja puhdistuisi ja tuottaisi onnea.
