I really like these baskets - they´re fast to make, they look nice and they´re mine. I made them so I own them, I took the pictures, so the pictures belong to me also.
If someone - let´s say someone who doesn´t knit or crochet - would "borrow" my pics and put them on their blog making it seem they´ve taken them, then that someone could be accused of thievery. That would happen to thievs in the real world. This is cyberspace and the laws seems to be a little bit different here....It´s very difficult to find a real person behind a blog, almost impossible. It takes a lot of energy to do that because we´re all anonymous here.
Anonymity is good, don´t get me wrong. But if a person violates a blog owner you should be able to locate the face behind that blog. I would call this kind of behavior identity stealing. My pics in someone elses blog, claiming they´ve made my projects and they´ve taken my pictures would make me furious and sad!!!!
This kind of behavior seems to be quite common in the blogworld. I read about it in a blog recently and I was somehow shocked by how the thief had acted. She stole pictures from one blog, building her own blog around these pictures and made stories around them without having any connection to the rightful owner whatsoever....I was shocked, even though I know that this happens, everyday, all around the globe....YEAH, BUT THAT HAPPENS IN THE REAL WORLD...NOT HERE! So maybe I´m blue eyed, I don´t care, this should still not be happening!
My sympathies goes to this woman. She now has to try to stop this other woman from doing this again and that takes a lot of frustration, work and anger. I´m not sure if I would have the energy to do that. I don´t want to put tags on my pics but maybe that would be a way to prevent thievery in the future.....making it hard to remove the tags from them...just saying....
Have a nice easter, passover, pesach or what ever you may call it!
